Raw Zucchini Noodles

July 31, 2017

I'm super excited to share with you this vibrate cafe I had the opportunity to try while I was in Siem Reap. Artillery Cafe is located across the river from old market.

A little Cafe Tour

Let me first show you around the cafe itself. How cute is the decor, I love the tiffany blue accents with the light wood.

Now Lets Go Inside

We ate lunch a little late so we were fortunate enough to have the whole place to ourselves and I could snap as many photos as my heart desired to share with all of you ^_^"

What Artillery Cafe is all about

I love how health and environmentally conscious they are and something I feel great supporting with my dollar. As you can see they caters to almost every dietary lifestyle as well.

Okay time to eat!

I've seen people make zucchini noodles so many times but since I just never got around to buying a spiralizer, zucchini noodles have been something I've just been wanting to try. Naturally that made choosing what to order a little easier because there was so many amazing sounding dishes.

Angkor Wat in Siem Reap

July 30, 2017

When you think of Siem Reap, you think of the famous Angkor Wat Temple which is one of the New 7th Wonders of the World. Today I wanted to share some photos I took while I was exploring this beautiful temple. I was a little annoyed with myself when I got home and looked through the photos because after breakfast at Angkor Wat the settings on my camera had changed without me knowing so 3/4 of my photos at Angkor Wat and all the temples I visited afterwards ended up looking like they were taken on a 2005 mobile phone 😭. But I don't want to wallow on something so first world 😋, so glad to have the few photos that turned out good and more importantly having had the opportunity to have the experience.

Booking the Temple Tour

As I said in my last Travel Diaries Post, we ended up booking the same Tuk Tuk driver for the full temple tour. You will notice a lot of the time when you ride in a Tuk Tuk the driver will ask you what you are doing the next day or if you want to visit the temples as this is one of the biggest fairs they get. I was glad have booked my tour with our driver Vanna because of how nice he was, the full fair for the ride was $28 USD. We booked to start the tour at sunrise so he picked us up from our hotel at 4:45am and our day started! You don't need to start at sunrise but I figured that would probably be less crowded.

We arrived at the ticket office at 4:55am and waited till 5am for the ticket box to open. I didn't expect so many people there so early but the line moved quick so It was no problem. Tickets were a whopping $37 USD each for a one day pass but it was our biggest tourist event we did so It was well worth it.

When we arrived our tuk tuk driver Vanna gave us a walkie talkie so we could contact him when we were done and ready to move onto the next temple, how nice is that ^_^.
DSC04697.jpg
While we were walking in the temple a young man approached us to let us know if we were interested in breakfast after we finished walking around we should check out his family's stall located on the temple. He said remember Number 7 and his name was John. We let him know we will keep that in mind when we finished off~

The site was really big we didn't have any plan of action so we just walked around and took it all in.

What to bring & what to wear.

Another thing to note is what to wear and what not to wear when you are in the temple. For women you should wear long pants or long dress/skirt to cover your knees and wear something to cover your shoulder. The only long clothing I had was a dress but I made sure to bring a t-shirt with me that I could put on once I arrived. For men It is similar, long pants or shorts that cover the knees and no singlet tops. Be sure to bring a backpack with plenty of water and sunscreen to apply as it approaches mid day.

Bakan

As we were walking around we ran into a long line for people waiting to go in the Bakan which is the upper terrace of Angkor Wat. They are very strict on what you wear if you are to go up there, they will not allow you to enter at all if you have shorts or have your shoulder showing.

Breakfast at Angkor Wat

As we walked back out the temple to look for the stalls for breakfast. We saw in the far off distances John running up to us waving and smiling, I was shocked out of all the people he remember and spotted us from so far away. He ran up to us and asked if we were ready for breakfast and also to show us an amazing spot to take photos in front of the river. He was so kind and took some photos of my boyfriend and I so we could both be in it. Afterwards we settle down to have breakfast at his family's stall, No. 7.

↑ He turned on the fan for us by connecting it to a battery box, which I thought was funny. That's the back of John right there with the blue and white shirt.

I got the banana pancake with a freshly squeezed OJ.
DSC04893.jpg
I know a lot of people might feel that people there are only nice because they want something from you or they want you to buy something from them but I could really feel that his kindness was genuine. I was more than happy to eat at his family's stall since I was going to eat at one of the stall anyways. While we were leaving Angkor Wat he made a effort to stop us just to say Bye, when he really didn't have to. If I were to go back to Siem Reap, I would love to go back to Angkor Wat just to stop by his family stall and say hi to him.

The few photos that were salvageable from the rest of our temple tour!

↑ Bayon Temple was one of my favourites, can you see the faces.

Even though it was already a little busy at sunrise it was nothing compared to when 10am~12pm hit, a lot of the big tour groups arrive which is when it get really crowded. So I would recommend going early for that reason also it's not as hot!

How To Reinvent Yourself

July 28, 2017

Thumbnail.jpg
I’m writing this as a reminder to myself more than anything, that if I truly want to be a certain way or have a certain lifestyle I have to act as if I already have it. Now that’s always easier said than done and there’s always that little voice in your head like this is dumb I know I’m not where I want to be yet I’m just deluding myself.
I think the easiest example would be fitness/weight loss. I know with myself especially this year I have had my big goal to losing weight, increase my fitness, look toned, feel fabulous in a bikini and overall feel more confident in myself. Your goal might not be weight loss but is there something in your life right now that you have been almost obsessing over because you want to achieve it or get there so badly? It could be trying to reach a certain income level, get more sales in your business or even be a successful blogger on steemit. It’s quite easily to get so in your head when you want something so bad, that you start to obsess over it in a somewhat negative way in which you disguise as fuel.

Lets go through some habit we might do when we are in that negative obsessive head space.

Weight loss/Fitness: This was very true to me. Any chance I glance in the mirror to see my progress, I will critique myself and pinpoint everything that I don’t like and need to change. Look through instagram at fitness models. Over think on making sure I eat the right food and that I’m making healthy choices.
For sales it could be that you’re checking your sales stats first thing in the morning or multiple times during that day and feeling bummed out when there hasn’t been many sales or any sales.
As wanting success on steemit, you might catch yourself spending more time thinking about why can this person make this much money or why that person can get that many views instead of using the platform itself.

What happens when we are desperate.

I now found that it is in that desperate negative obsession that really stops us from achieving what we really want. Our mindset which links to our actions ends up holding ourselves back from where we want to be heading.
Think about it like this:
Would those truly happy, confident, fit people stand in front of a mirror and pick apart themselves? Would they dread eating healthy and see working out as a chore they are trying to avoid? Would they disregard the progress they have made just because they haven’t made it to their dream body yet?
Would successful entrepreneurs obsessively look at their sales stats and beat themselves up about not being where they would want to be?
And would a successful blogger sit on steemit to just look at other people’s success and feel envious and jealous whilst analysing why this person would make so much and why you can’t?
The answer is NO
Death_to_stock_photography_Wake_Up_5-02.jpg

Can you see how those actions can bring you further from where you want to be?

The secret to being your dream self is to act as if you were your dream self. I know, so simple yet it’s so easy for us to get caught up that we just don’t act upon it. Think of you as you are now and your dream self, you might feel that gap is soo big and think how will I ever get there? Well if you start by embodying the mindset and actions you would be taking at your 'dream self' right now in your life you are now bridging that gap.
For weightloss/fitness goal my dream self mindset would be that I would feel confident in my skin, I would always acknowledge the progress I’ve made, I would see eating well and working out as a form of self love so it would come natural to me and not something I have to think about all the time or obsess over. My actionswould be to work out consistently and eat an abundance of wholesome plant based food.
If your big goals is to be a successful blogger on steemit what kind of mindset would they have, what kind of actions would they be doing? Post high quality content consistently, engage genuinely with the community through comments, actively learn more about the platform.
If you take those steps of “acting as if you are already there” the rest will fall into place almost effortlessly. If we don’t change firstly from within, your beliefs, your thoughts then you will never get to where you want to be. The reason to why we want to be a certain is usually because we believe it will make us feel a certain way.
For example at the core of why I want to be toned, fit and healthy is because I believe it will make me happy and confident in my body. Well if i’m miserable & negatively criticizing my body the whole time i’m trying to get to my body goal then when I get there I will probably will still feel bad about my body and looking for the next thing that needs to be worked on and then the next.
You might feel that about money, perhaps you only have $100 in saving and you're desperate for more. So you say to yourself I will feel so happy and wealthy if I had $1000 in savings. Once you finally reached $1000 instead of feeling happy and wealthy you’ve already moved onto wanting to have $2000 and decide actually I'll feel happy and wealthy at $2000 and so on. You can see you will never get to how you want to feel if you put a wager on yourself, that i can only feel happy with I’m make X or when I look like X. That’s why it is so important that you also implement the thoughts and feeling of how you wish to be NOW and not in an imaginary future scenario.
Death_to_stock_photography_Wake_Up_5-03.jpg
I think i’m going to wrap it up here. This is something I’m still trying to implement myself but i hope this was helpful to you in any sort of way.
Talk to you next time,
