Vegan Fettuccine Alfredo

Reform Kafe, Chiang Mai

We bumped into an old friend and he informed us that he has found his new favourite vegan restaurant and if we go we have to try the vegan burger. So how could we not go and check out this place, we haven't been to a new restaurant in Chiang Mai in so long. We have a select few favourite places that we usually rotate around when it comes to eating out but I was pretty excited to try Reform Kafe.
I looked up online and found out that Reform Kafe used to be vegan and vegetarian but now the whole menu is vegan, how cool is that!

The interior is super relaxed I instantly had holiday vibes when I walked in I felt like I was back in Cambodia.

I didn't know at the time till we were seated that it was actually a hotel restaurant, if I stayed at this hotel I would probably have dinner here every single night. There was so many different things I wanted to try on the menu.
DSC05423-2.jpg
My boyfriend was going to order the mushroom patty burger our friend recommended to us and I just didn't know what I wanted. Then the waiter came and my boyfriend started to order so I just made a split second decision while the waiter was asking me what I would like... Fettuccine Mushrooms & cream it was.

For drinks we got the banana & cocoa shake which tasted amazing! and a green smoothie which tasted OK I feel like it could of been stronger. The only reason I order green smoothies is because I was that nutrients hit so when the smoothie doesn't taste almost bad because of all the good green veggies in it then it's not effective 😅 I think I could only taste cucumber and celery.

I have a cheeky bite of the burger and man oh man it was amazing packed full of flavour and the homemade chips were so good!! We just wish there was more of it.

Fettuccine Mushrooms & cream was pretty good, the cream was made from cashew but in comparison to the burger it was just lacking flavour. It needed something savoury or even some black pepper onto but the sauce was nothing less than creamy, can you tell from the picture.

I can't wait to come back and try some other dishes on the menu, they have some really affordable veggie set with rice dishes too. Hope you enjoyed my post!

Best Wrap and Salad Cafe

August 13, 2017

Today I want to share a place I've been to way too many times but if you love fresh wraps/salad you would come here just as much. We normally come for lunch/dinner but during those times it's honestly so busy I can't capture the lovely environment of this restaurant. So today we switched it up and came for breakfast.
DSC05412.jpg
DSC05407.jpg
You can see the salad bar here where they assemble your wraps/salad. I order a wrap today but I need to tell you and believe me the salads here are BIG, the biggest salads I've ever seen or had which I love so much. I never order salads in restaurant normally because It never satisfies me but these salads are a game changer. Plus they are just super tasty without the need to smother it with cheese.
DSC05378.jpg
DSC05368.jpg
How cute is the interior?! There is so much seating that even when it's super busy I'm still guaranteed a seat.

DSC05375.jpg
So why I love this restaurant other than the things I've already mentioned is that you can custom make your wraps/salads. My go-to order is "croutons, tomato, pumpkin, broccoli, purple cabbage" They have a good selection of dressings all really fresh and tasty, I usually alternate between the 4 vegan dressing options.
DSC05374.jpg
They make it super easily with these pads that you fill out with you custom order. You can also custom make pressed juice too! I created a beetroot, ginger, apple, wheatgrass juice. I tried to pick the most nutritionally dense ingredients so it usually taste like crap but it very healthy.
DSC05372.jpg
Like I said salads/wraps never full me up but these wraps and salad are big and so satisfying.

My boyfriend normally orders a wrap as well but since we were here for breakfast thing time he tried the banana pancake. Like the wraps and salad it was super tasty and would recommend.

Now I'm craving a wrap again. If I could choose one restaurant to franchise into Australia, I would 10 out of 10 pick Salad Concept. I'm going to miss it so much!

Korean Cold Noodles!

August 9, 2017

36/1,36/2 Nimmanhaemin Lane 11, Muang, Thailand

What better way to beat the Thai heat then with korean cold noodles (Naengmyeon)! I'm still fairly new to korean cold noodles, I've only tried it at 3 different korean restaurants. At first I wasn't sure if I really liked them or not but each time I tried it I grew to like it a little more and I'm usually the person that likes there food steaming hot!
If you haven't had or seen cold noodles before and wondering how cold really are they well, the soup base will usually have a few ice cubes in it. It is normally served in a steel bowl topped with cucumbers, Korean pear and lightly pickled radish which makes it super refreshing. The broth is tangy in flavor. There was an old tradition that the noodles would be slurped without cutting as it symbolised longevity in life. Long noodles = Long life!
DSC05304-2.jpg
Now this restaurant has no frills, nothing to write home about but they do serve pretty decent korean food. The funny thing is there was actually a korean restaurant right next door to this one which we went to regularly. The service was bad but the food was very authentic. But I would say the bad service is probably why they slowly went out of business and closed down, plus it doesn't help that there is a korean restaurant right beside it!
DSC05307-2.jpg
I love that they give you 6 different plates of sides and you can top them up free of charge. First up we order the classic kimchi pancake!
DSC04107-2.jpg
Another winning quality about this restaurant has to be they also give you free soup which again you can top up as you wish. I'm not 100% sure what the soup is but I think it's kimchi soup with tofu. Super yummy!!
DSC05316-2.jpg
Here we have the coooooold noodles, can you see the icy broth? My boyfriend does not like it at all 😛
DSC05320-2.jpg
That's the self service bar in the center where you can top up on sides and soup
DSC05314.jpg
My boyfriend's favourite korean dish is Tteok-bokki which is spicy rice cakes. I really love the texture rice cakes, it's soft and chewy but the ones here are extremely spicy so I don't go near them.
DSC05319-2.jpg
I did try the spicy cold noodles a different night, I really loved the flavor but in the end it was burning a hole in my mouth by how spicy it was. Surprisingly this one didn't have a soup base it was just cold buckwheat noodles coated in spicy sauce.

I want to know what is your go-to korean dish you order when you go out for korean?

Vegan Burger in Siem Reap

August 4, 2017

Before visiting Siem Reap I made a little list on my phone of cafes/restaurant that were highly recommended online and Sister Srey Cafe was one. I didn't plan on going to this cafe this particular day but it just so happened to pop up right before my eyes while we were casually strolling through town.
If you're wondering Srey means sister in Khmer (Cambodian) so it's Sister Sister Cafe and that's because it was ran by sisters Lauren And Cassie.

The interior of Sister Srey Cafe

I really love the look of plants in a cafe it just makes them look 10 times cozier. When I move into a place of my own again I will definitely put plants around my house but not real ones because god knows they won't last more than a month with my plant maintenances skills. I once pet sat my friend's house for a week and her one plant which was in my care didn't look the healthiest when they returned. I watered it daily and put it out for sun but it still slowly died on me but they assured me that when they first bought it home the plant nearly went to hell and back so it was no biggie. Phew~ ^_^". However the cat I was taking care of there was in tip top shape which is all that really matters.

DSC05141.jpg
They had a cool twisted staircase which I don't see often, I did feel bad for the waiters taking food up and down those stairs, it looked like it posed quite a challenge.

The Food

I order a vegan lentil burger, it was....okay. The burger and patty itself was cooked great but I didn't really like the herbs on the patty. I'm not big on strong herbs. Just a personal preferences things nothing to do with the cafe and food quality itself because my boyfriend really enjoyed his Schnitty roll.

The cute menu

I wanted to include the cute drinks menu. I was so delighted to see they repurposed old "Little golden book" into covers for their drink menus. I thought that was so cute and unique. Did you read little golden books when you were little?
