I want to share with you one of the most unique art museum I visited while I was in Siem Reap. Art Box open in 2016, apparently it is one was the largest trick art museums. I really didn't know what to expect when entering the building because I didn't read up on it before I went BUT I'm so glad I brought a camera!
We took a tuk tuk to the ArtBox Museum, it is a little out of the way but that also makes it a great hidden gem. We had the whole museum to ourselves pretty much the whole time we were there. It was amazing because there was no line up for any of the scenes and we could really take our time and have fun posing.
The Ride to ArtBox
We got to see another side of Siem Reap that was outside the main market square. The fair for the tuk tuk was $10 USD for a round trip. Make sure you get a return trip, we were lucky our hotel staff warned us that you won't be able to get a tuk tuk there so It's best to book for a round trip.
Another thing to note, there is no ATM at the museum or even around that area so be sure to bring enough cash for the tickets. Tickets are $15 USD each. We were NOT prepared and got there without enough cash on us because we assumed we would be able to get money out near there. We left the museum thinking what to do and return to our tuk tuk driver to let him know we had to go to an ATM first. He told us there isn't any close by BUT fortunately he happened to be one of the nicest tuk tuk driver and happily lent us some cash for the tickets so we could pay him back when we get to an ATM on the way home. Such an awesome guy, he's name is Vanna. We ended booking him again for our temple trip as well.
Inside ArtBox
Once your inside they will ask you to remove your shoes and they will put them in storage for you while you work around the museum. I took two snaps of how the rooms look and there was A LOT of different scenery. I think there was maybe 6 or more different rooms full of scenes, we took around 2 hours there playing around. There isn't any where you can really prop your camera on so It's best to come with another person or with a tripod.
Lets Have Some Fun
Here are just a small handful of photos that were taken of me that day. It was a lot of fun to get creative and I just overall enjoyed seeing the art. The room with the big waterfall (shown above) was my favourite, the scenes in there were just so stunning.
Until Next Time,
